Phoenix Dan Cong Oolong Tea Wudong Mountain Brotherhood Dan Cong Xiong Di Zai
Phoenix Dan Cong Oolong is known for its large variety of fragrances and the strong sweet aftertaste. The dry leaves usually have twisted darker color. The wet leaves have a reddish edge due to an oxidation process unique to the making of oolong tea. The tea is then moderately baked for final consumption.
Brothers Dan Cong belongs to the gardenia fragrance family of the ten prominent phoenix dan cong fragrances. The story is said that the tea farmers in Wudong mountains found two single groves at the top and bottom patches that both had similar leaf patterns, so they mixed the freshly picked leaves together and made the tea. They offered the tea for the local temples' gods and the villagers praised the exceptional quality of the tea, thus the name "brothers". Currently, this Brothers dan cong tea is the offspring of the two original single grove bushes.
This tea has an exciting complexity to the flavor. It is very floral and fruity, very smooth and sweet, with a note of cape jasmine fragrance and hints of passion fruit and baked berries.
