Jian Shui Zi Tao Clay Teapot Hand Hammered Pattern
Jian Shui Purple Clay Pottery is one of the four famous classes of Chinese pottery. Jian Shui clay is extracted from the local "five color" mountain, as the soil has abundant deposits of red, yellow, purple, white, and brownish clay content, referred to by the locals as "Wu Se Tu", meaning five color soil. Due to abundant iron deposits in the soil, most Jian Shui clay teapots turn black or brown color after firing.
This handmade teapot's bumpy surface texture was created using a small hammer to make impressions in the clay, providing a rough appeal with an elegant undertone. It is very practical to use and easy to handle.
