Chinese folk tradition regards bats as auspicious since the word for bat has the same pronunciation as "auspicious" in Chinese.  With its wide rim, this beautiful gaiwan is very easy to hold in the hand and easily controlled, great for beginners or to serve as a vessel for your daily gongfu tea ritual.
