Genuine Yixing Zisha Purple Clay Teapot Pan Hu
Highlights
This beautiful teapot is a timeless classic beloved by many Yixing teapot lovers. There are three types of Pan Hu: high profile, middle profile, and low profile. This teapot is the middle profile with the body gradually widening from a smaller top to a larger belly. In Chinese Zen philosophy, a big belly is usually associated with a generous and tolerant attitude. In contrast to the wider body, the spout shape is based on a "three angled lines" structure, which are curved and smoothed to soften the sturdy impression of the whole body, also making it easy to pour. The lid is shaped like a bowl hat with a lovely bead adorning the top. This teapot is made of Duan Ni, a type of Zisha clay. Overall, the simple yet graceful looking teapot will surely add enjoyment to your daily tea ritual.
This Pan Hu is completely hand-made by Qian Wei, who is a senior artist potter certified by the national artistry governing body. She was born into a famous Yixing pottery family and has been crafting Zisha teapots for 20 years. Her father is master Qian He Shen, who is the nephew and successor of the most famed master Jiang Rong 蒋蓉. Master Qian apprenticed and learned from his aunt during his tenure at the state-owned First Yixing Zisha factory in the 1980s and has been passing on the tradition to the whole family.
Capacity: 160ml / 5.4oz. It comes with a certificate and a beautiful case.
