2023 Hua Zhu Liang Zi Bamboo Ridge Ancient Tree Raw Pu'erh Tea
We are excited to offer this tea from Victoria’s 2023 sourcing trip! Hua Zhu Bamboo Ridge lies at the highest summit of Xishuangbanna prefecture, Yunnan. It is named after the lavish bamboos that used to cover the mountain. Hua Zhu has four villages along the bamboo mountain, which are homes to three different ethnic groups. There is a saying that "high mountains produce high quality tea." With its diversity of plant and tree life, and it's sunshine mixed with misty clouds year-round, the tea trees have a perfect natural growing environment. A high altitude mountain and this perfect environment is one of the reasons why this tea is famous and has become one of the new "dark horses" of Pu-erh teas in recent years, as word has gotten out.
This tea is harvested from the organically grown ancient tea terrace at the top of the mountain of Xishuangbanna, with an altitude of more than 2300 meters. Of course, no use of pesticides or fertilizers are needed. As you can see in the picture, Victoria had to hitch a ride on an off-road vehicle, then walk up to the summit. Victoria was personally involved, from leaf selection to the cake pressing and packaging of the tea cakes. The design of the wrapper was inspired by Dai ethnic group cultural elements in Xishuangbanna.
This tea has a yellowish clear liquor, a very unique strong floral fragrance with fruity notes, very smooth and vibrant, with a sweet lingering aftertaste (Hui Gan). The fragrance is also very noticeable in the liquor which is an indication of a high quality tea. The very essence of the natural high mountain environment also gives this tea a subtle wild forest aroma that comforts your body and spirit, which tea connoisseurs call "Yun" (韵). It is optimal for either immediate consumption or for long-term aging. A very special and exquisite tea for Pu-erh tea lovers.
Our brand features 100% pure ancient tree leaves from the garden, from the very first spring harvest. There are no blends, mixes, or intermingling of leaves from other areas or with inferior Pu-erh leaves, which is unfortunately all too common in the Pu-erh tea market.
