Jingdezhen Artisan Doucai Porcelain Autumn and Scholar Teacup

$ 885.00

This exquisite teacup features an original painting and porcelain artwork crafted at a renowned studio in Jingdezhen, the world’s porcelain capital. Each handcrafted cup is adorned with a delicate painting that reflects the harmonious relationship between man and nature. The artwork and calligraphy on the teacup are the creative work of master Wu Yuehe, whose name is inscribed at the end of the calligraphy. Mr. Wu is a distinguished member of the National Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Society, celebrated as a leading porcelain calligrapher and artist in Jingdezhen’s artistic community. The gold filigree at the bottom of the cup adds a touch of elegance and luxury, further enhancing its beauty. The cup’s shape is the classic Mati (horseshoe), characterized by a round bottom and wide opening at the top, with a delicate, lightweight feel that showcases the radiant quality typical of top-tier Jingdezhen porcelain.

Chinese landscape painting, with its timeless themes of mountains, water, and trees, has long been a revered subject in traditional art. One of the teacup features a scholar admiring a distant mountain and colorful trees, while the other one depicts a high-ranking official contemplating in the tranquility of a bamboo forest. This work draws inspiration from the famed Qing dynasty artist Bada Shan Ren (八大山人), known for his minimalist yet masterfully composed paintings that evoke Zen-like emptiness and profound meaning through simple brushstrokes and ample space.

Doucai is a distinguished Chinese porcelain technique that uses multiple colors to decorate the porcelain. It was one of the four major decoration styles during the Ming and Qing dynasties and has experienced a revival in recent years as part of the renewed appreciation for China’s porcelain heritage.

This fine porcelain teacup not only enhances the flavor of your tea but also offers a visually stunning and comfortable experience. A true work of art, it will elevate your tea-drinking ritual and make a valuable addition to your tea ware collection.
