Highlights

These tea cups are the creation of the famous pottery master Yang Zui hand-made from his art studio in Lingcang, Yunnan where pottery has been made for hundreds of years. Mr. Yang studied at Jingdezhen Ceramic University, and learned from several prominent potter masters in Jian Shui before he opened his own studio. He's designated by the Yunnan governing authority as an inheritor of Yunnan province intangible cultural heritage. The glaze and the clay are extracted from the local clay material, in which the soil has abundant deposits of red, yellow, purple, white, and brownish elements. The clay used in this cup is white.

Each cup was wood-fired in his treasured dragon kiln that was built in Qianlong era of Qing dynasty, about 280 years ago. Using a dragon kiln with wood-firing is much harder to fire successfully than other power-sourced kilns. The temperature in dragon kiln can reach 1300 Celsius, and use pine tree wood to fire about at least 25 hours in the kiln. The cups are a traditional Yuan Rong shape, meaning round and in harmony. It holds comfortably in your hand and sits gracefully at your tea table. The 80ml size cup has a white drop flowing downward, which makes it more interesting. It looks like a man's tie to me, or more romantic, like a feather drifting from the sky to the autumn forest. The color changes in these cups are intriguing and pique our imagination.

Capacity:  80ml and 90ml with slight variations on pattern due to firing.
